Domaine Fagot - Macon Villages

North of the city of Lyon lies the region of Macon with a number of sub-appellations; the most renowned being Pouilly-Fuisse.

In the industry these wines are referred to as white Beaujolais and are always 100% produced from the Chardonnay grape. Although the Macon region is not very far from the Chablis region which are also vinified from the Chardonnay grape the style of wine from these two regions are as different as night and day.

The wines from the great producers of the Macon region are known for being rich and bold and are able to pair just as well with poultry as they do with fish or seafood dishes.

When I first tasted the "Macon-Villages" from Domaine Fagot I was surprised at the richness and depth of concentration. Wines in this price range, I refer to as every-day drinking wines. Not only because of their price, but also because of the ease with which they go down the throat. An outstanding value!
